Hi, so far I have Ann ASHTON married Thomas PEACOCK 07 August 1770 Doneraile, Cork (Denomination Church of Ireland). Does anyone link to these people. I don't have parents for Ann but wonder if she could be another daughter of Gough who had a daughter Elenor (b.1758) and maybe grandaughter of Edward ASHTON and Rebecca GOUGH married 1693. One reason I think maybe Ann ties in with these people is that her and Thomas PEACOCK had a son Gough b. St John's, Limerick 1779. Thanks alot.

  • Dear eggplant:

Thanks for your query to Ireland Reaching Out.  Another good resource to look at would be headstones that are online.

The IGP Archives has done a wonderful job of listing headstones and you can view their records and transcription work for free by county at this link:

    www.igp-web.com.

In addition, www.interment.net also have gravestone inscriptions and there is a wonderful projcect known as the Historic Graves project.  This project is community-based and transcribes, records and photographs headstones.  They have done a lot of work in County Cork, and this site is also well worth a look.  It may be from the headstone inscriptions that you will find more family members.

    www.historicgraves.com.

Have you also tried the Landed Estates Database?  They have may records of this family or families.

Your comment about Anne's naming her son Gough, is certainly a good clue to research further.

The best of luck with your research, and if you have further questions, please let us know.

    Kind regards,

    Jane
