I am trying to find Michael Roche of Buttevant Lane Doneraile. He married Mary Lyons (Line Lyne) on 3 Feb. 1818  (Roots Ireland). Mary(born about 1797) and three of the children are buried in a family plot here in New Jersey. But we can't find any information on Michael being here. We believe he must have died in Ireland and then Mary joined her sons here. Is there any way you can find a death certificate for him? Would there be any way to find baptism records for Michael Roche and Mary Lyons.

  • Hi Robert

There is a record of a baptism of Michael Roche 1792 in Cork on www.rootsireland.ie/

The parish is not Doneraile but he may have lived there at the time he was married rather than being born there.

There are 9 matches for Mary Lyons 1797 + - 1 year but none in Cork.

There is no death record for Michael in Cork but there are lots in other counties.

The Tithe Applotments (free online) have 9 Michael Roches in Cork 1825-34

I searched for children of Michael Roche & Mary Lyons 1830 + - 20 years in Cork and got 4 matches - all girls: Mary 1821 Catherine 1831 Elizabeth 1834 & Hanora 1837; I assume this means Michael was still alive in 1836/37.

No luck on www.rirshgenealogy.ie/ or ancestry.com

You might want to try the Irish GRO website.
