Hickey and Murphy

The marraige record of Dennis & Mary on www.irishgenealogy.ie/ has no parents' names as you probably know.

There is no record on www.rootsireland.ie/

The Tithe Applotments (free site) 1823-37 have 180 Hickeys in Cork but only 1 in Keale - Dennis

There is also only 1 Murphy in Keale in the Tithes (below)

The Gibson Family Tree on ancestry (owner Josephine Stacy) has a Dennis Hickey born abt 1820 in Ireland, arrived in USA age 4 maiired Mary Murphy in Ohio 1856.

His parents were William Hickey & Florence Carnell; I assume this is not your peo[ple.

Hi Col, yes, I think you are right on all accounts.  I did wonder about the William Murphy since he was so much involved with Denis and Mary Murphy Hickey's young married life - some one else suggested that he was her father,though I can find no record of her birth.  I wondered about him being her brother, but then lately I wondered if he was the priest?  But I can't figure out how to "prove" any of these theories.  I agreee that my Denis Hickey very, very likely was not the one who went to Ohio (my family went to CT), but I am curious as my family seems to alternate the names Denis and William, and here again is another William- Denis pair.  I will look into that tree.  Thank you very much.
