Looking for cousins

Do you have any further information concerning what area in County Cork your grandparents visited? Or any other information concerning the family in Ireland? If we could narrow down your area of search we could possibly place an add in the local newspaper or parish newsletter which may yield a response.

Thank you for the follow up. The only parish we see listed is dromtarriff or droomgarriffe. My sister has pictures that she is going to try and send me. If I am able to get pictures can I post them? It would make me so happy to hear from them.

The placename your looking for is most likely Dromgarriff. You can get information about the area here: http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/placenames/index.cfm?fuseaction=Simple&UserID=  Kilmaloda amd Kilmocomoge are the two civil parishes associated with that placename. Now, they are not near each other so you may want to try getting in touch with the local parish priests who may put notices in the parish newsletter for you. Bantry is the large town in the Kilmocomoge, while Clonakilty is the town for the Kilmaloda area. Contact information can be found for both under Parish Offices at http://www.corkandross.org/parishes.jsp?parishID=11 .   You should specify that you are looking for family who may come from either area. 

Now that you know the possible parish names you can join those parishes on this site and post your messages and photos there. If you have any difficulty posting photos you can email them directly to me and I can get them put on for you.

On my Grandfather's birth certificate it reads Kilmona is that short for one of the parishes you mentioned or is it separate? I may email the photos to you it has has not been an easy task for me.  Thank you so much for your help.

Kilmona is a seperate parish. It isn't readily identified with the placename Dromgarriff. But it may be that your grandmother was born in Kilmona and visited relatives in Dromgarriff. Anything is possible. The Cork & Ross church site I gave you should be helpful. Just be sure to include the information on all 3 parishes. You may want to join the pages for all 3 parishes as well and we can post the photos to each of them.
