We have found a Cornelius Downey who was baptised on October 2, 1843 in Boherbue, county cork, Ireland. Father and Mother were Timothy and Mary. Some of his brothers and sister could have also been baptised there. They are Dennis, John (Joannam), Daniel and Mary. If you could help search for them in Boherbue and find some of them it would convince me that Cornelius is our relative. The only reference that I believe may be the church is St. Mary's Roman Catholic parish in Boherbue, county Cork. We will be very grateful to you for your help.

     Sincerely yours, Bob Myers

  • Hi Bob
There are 2 baptism records of Cornelius Downey in Cork on www.rootsireland.ie/; one is 1840 & the other 1841
Boherbue is not in the list of parishes

The site requires purchase of credit
There are a lot of Cork records on www.irishgenealogy.ie/ which is free so you might try there

  • The info that I have comes from the Latter Day Saints who evidently have copied records from Boherbue. They cite as a source St Mary's Roman Catholic parish, Boherbue, county Cork. Vol 2.   I need to learn what the term parish covers. Your information opens up another place to search; the dates are in the ball park. Am also going to visit an LDS center.  Thank you.   Bob
