James & Mary Ellen had 8 sons - Thomas, John, Pierce, William, James, Edward, Richard, and Parr. Plus 2 daughters, Mary md 1839 to Benjamin SHORTEN; Ellen married 1849 to John PRESTON.
James was the son of Thomas COTTER of Inchinashingane, and had at least two brothers: Parr married Jane MILNER; Pierce married Margaret MILNER, daughters of Samuel MILNER of Edencurra and Mary SEALY. Both MILNER sisters died in Boston Masachusetts.
