Hi,
Can anoyne assist? I am trying to trace details of a marriage between a Jeremiah (cokly) coakley and a Mary Ann Wolfe from the early 19th Century. They left Ireland to go to Cardiff in Sth Wales where the family have been located ever since.
I am trying to trace details to establish where they may have been born and lived possibly Clonakilty? but i am not sure.
If anyone can assist I would be grateful as I have hit a brick wall!
Many Thanks

Hi Andrew
Thank you for your query. Firstly do you know what the religious denomination of your family was? you can view what Roman Catholic records exist for Clonakilty through the link below:
http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/ (Browse Roman Catholic Parish Map)
For Church of Ireland records see: http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/. The Anglican Record Project is has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf
You could also check the frequence of the Coakley Surname in Ireland in the mid 19th Century through the Irish Times link above. This will give you the number of Coakley households in each County, which could narrow it down for you.
You will need to find a place of origin e.g. Parish, Townland to be successful in your research
Here are some other websites that may be of help to you:

These are my GGgranparents, have you had any luck? We all thought they came from Cork. they were Roman Catholics as I have Baptismal records of some of the descendants in Cardiff.
