Hello,

I am brand new to this website. I never knew this existed. I have just recently uncovered my Irish roots. I am 36 years old and live in the United States. I have recently started researching my ancestors and now I am stuck. I am looking for information regarding Benjamin J. Garde II, his parents and his wife. Benjamin was born in County Cork, Ireland, in 1823 and died in 1885 in Illinois, United States. His father's name is Benjamin J. Garde I - unknown date of birth or date of death. His mother's name is Anna Garde (born UNKNOWN) - unknown date of birth or date of death. Benjamin's wife's name is Johanna Garde (born Haggerty) - she was born in 1830 in Ireland and died February 18, 1873 in Illinois, United States.

Benjamin is my great-great-great grandfather.

As I stated before, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

    rootsireland has a record of the batism of Johanna Hegarthy 1830 Cork parish is Mitchelstown.

    There is also a baptism of WILLIAM Garde with father Benjamin Garde and mother ANN in 1823 in Cork (not Michelstown)..

    Are you sure it wasn't William you are after?

    I couldn't find the marriage of Benjamin & Ann.

    I did find a possible baptism record for Benjamin Garde senior - 1805 but this would make him only 18 when the son William or Benjamin is born in 1823.

    This family history is going to keep you very busy!

    William Garde was a brother of Benjamin Garde II, so another son of Benjamin I and Johanna. Thank you again for your research. I will definitely follow up on all that you haven given me.
