Greetings everyone! Not sure which Parish my GG Grandfather Mortimer O'Sullivan came from? (Murtagh O'Sullivan) Born in 1848 in Castletown and he died in 1918 in Castletown. He came to Brookline, Mass in 1870 and raised a family and came back home in 1916 and died in 1918. Buried for some reason in Co. Kerry. His mother was Mary (??) and his father was Murtagh/Mortimer. After she died he married Pana Fitzgerald who passed in 1916. ANY HELP WOULD BE WONDERFUL AND I HAVE A COPY OF HIS OBIT THAT IS CUT IN HALF AND CANNOT LOCATE IT ANYWHERE. HE PASSED JUNE/JULY/AUG OF 1918. manY mANY tHANKS!!!!!

Hi Lisa
Thank you for your query. Firstly do you know what the religious denomination of your family was? you can view what Roman Catholic records exist for Castletown through the link below:
http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/ (Browse Roman Catholic Parish Map)
For Church of Ireland records see: http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/. The Anglican Record Project is has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf
By accessing the church records you may be able to discover more about your great great grandfather, other family members etc.
Also you may or may not be aware that there can often be more than one Townland with the same name in a County. The link below will allow you to search that place name in the given County and give you the information you need.
