My ancestor is Cornelius Looney, born 1855 in County Cork, Ireland. He immigrated to New York City in 1883 and died in 1918. His wife was Ann Brew/Bren. His parents are listed as John and Mary. I believe his parents might be John Looney b.1810 and Mary Minihan of Aghabullogue, Cork. I also believe there is a possible connection to the O’Leary clan. Any information on the Looney family would be much appreciated!

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and found five baptismal records for children of John Looney and Mary Minehan.  Jeremiah 1839 John 1844 Honora 1851 Margaret 1858 Honora 1862. Likely the first Honora died young. The parish was Coachford/Aghabulloge. The family lived in Knockrour townland in Aghabulloge civil parish. I did not find a marriage record.

Here is a link to the parish register. https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0002  I took a look at 1855 and did not see a baptismal record for Cornelius. It also appears there may be some gaps in the records. You may want to scan the register to see if you see additional records. 1839-1862 is a long span and there may be other records that were missed by the Roots Ireland transcribers.

I looked at the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing and there was a John Looney listed in Knockrour townland in Aghabulloge civil parish.
