My great grandfather was Joseph McCormack who lived in Canada.  His father was Willilam McCormack who had his roots in County Cork.  If anyone can help me trace my roots beyond that I would be greatly appreciative.  I don't know anything other than the McCormacks to whom I am related came from County Cork.  Thank you.

  • Hi Thomas,

You could try posting as much information as you can concerning your relatives...include dates of birth/marriage/death etc... The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to assist or advise you.

Do you know much about the family's emigration? Dates, the reason why they left, who they may have travelled with etc.? Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g. via Liverpool, New York etc.....), this could be a good place to find more information.
