Hello

I am researching my great grandfather Cornelius Okeefe and to the best of mu research I believe he married Catherine Sullivan at St Finbar November 18 1866

I am hoping to confirm this and if so how would I obtain any documents as such

Thank you

  • The marriage is included in the extracted civil records on FamilySearch see here, these include partial details from the civil marriage register. You can order a research cert. from the GRO to see the full details, which will incude some additional details, occupations, places of residence, father's names, witnesses.

The extracted record includes a register page reference, the 118, which can be used to located the full index references needed to order a cert. i.e. :

    Name : Cornelious Keeffe
    Event Type : Marriage Event
    Registration Year : 1866
    Registration District : Cork
    Volume : 20 / Page : 118

To order the cert see option 1 on the IrisihGenealogy website - I want to get a copy of a certificate, what do
(register images for more recent marriages can alread be viewed on the IrishGenealogy website, earlier records will be added over time)

A church record of the marriage is available on the IrishGenealogy website under South Parish (Cork City), these early church marriage records do not incude as much detail as a Civil marriage - see Marriage of Cors. Keeffe and Kate Sullivan 18th November 1866
