Dear Friends of Aghadowey Parish: I have been searching for my great great Grandfather, Maurice Kane who was born in Ireland around 1800 and married Mary Catherine Mullen around 1838. They had a son Patrick around 1840 and immigrated to Quebec Canada before 1850. My research to date leads to Northern Ireland but I have not uncovered any documents to support this research. If anyone can help or advise me on where to search, I would greatly appreciate it.

Regards

  • Hi

Do you know much about their emigration? If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g. Liverpool, New York, etc.), this could be a good place to find more information. -

  • Dear Genealogy Support: Thank you for taking the time to provide such a detailed response. I have checked out all the links you provided and have not found any additional information. Maurice & Mary Catherine left Ireland with Patrick during the potatoe famine in the mid 1850s. They settled in Bristol, Quebec Canada. I do not know their port of entry. I did find their tombstone at St Brigit's Church in Bristol but the Church does not have any records indicating their birth place other than Ireland. I did find a number of Maurice Kane's via Griffith's Valuation link a while back which led me to the Message Board at Ireland Reaching Out and thus my messages on each of the Parish websites.

I greatly appreciate your help. Anything additional you can provide is greatly appreciated.
