Hello, I am a Roxborough by birth.  My father was James Roxborough, youngest of William Roxboroughs children. My brother and I are doing our Roxborough family tree and wnt so much to reconnect to any of our Roxborough family members out there purely for this purpose,  Our grandfather William went to America and returned to Aghadowey district with enough money to set himself up in farming.  Its possible the woman he went to America with, only rumour so far, stayed on in USA but Williams heart was back in Northern Ireland.  He married again and when she died he married another younger woman who is my Dads mother.  PLEASE can someone respond to this message and I am very certain we can help each other on our journey.  Many thanks.  Sheila.

  • Sheila,

You really need to post some dates and townlands (addresses) for these events to enable people to help you. Also what denomination were your family?

Griffiths Valuation (1862) lists Alexander Rosborough in Lisnafillon townland; James in Corbally and Patrick in Ballyloughan (all in the parish of Ahoghill).

There are no Rox/Rosborough families in the Ahoghill area in the 1901 census.

The 1766 religious census for Ahoghill does list William, James and Pat Rosbrough (an alternative spelling). They are all dissenters, ie Presbyterian.
