1766 Thomas Crawford is living in Drumachose Ballycrum

1809: Thomas Crawford is born: marries Mary Martin and moves to Canada in 1840: lists himself as a Methodist farmer of Limavady.

So far cant find any hint of what Crawford would be the father of this Thomas.......

Anyone have any knowledge of Crawfords of Drumachose, Ballycrum or Limavady?

    Hi,

Thank you for your message, I hope that someone researching similar lines makes a connection with you.

The best place to find this information would be on Thomas? birth certificate. Unfortunately, sometimes the reality of finding documentation pertaining to births/baptisms/marriages/deaths in Ireland prior to 1800 ? particularly in rural areas ? is that they simply may not exist. As the Church of Ireland was the official church of Ireland at the time anything that does survive is often from these records.

Additionally, until about 1816, Methodists in Ireland usually would have had dual membership as both Methodists and the parish Church of Ireland church. Consequently, the best place to look for Thomas? birth record would be in the Church of Ireland registers. For information on these registers check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/
