Looking for genealogical information for a James McClure (parents names, dates, emigration record/marriage) who emigrated to the U.S. in the 1840's. He was born abt 1810, county Donegal or Antrim. He married Ann Knox b. 1822 county Donegal. Earliest I can find  him is in the 1850 U.S. census for Pittsburgh, PA (Allegheny) Ann and children Frances b. 1847, Richard b. 1852 and Mary Elizabeth b. 1854. Likely he married after coming to the U.S. They lived in Princeton, Indiana in 1860. A link to this family is at Find A Grave at: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSmid=48309809&GRid=12…. Any help or direction for locating Irish information on James is appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Dennis

Ther is a baptism record of Ann Knox Donegal 1823 on www.rootsireland.ie/

Closest match for James McClure is 1816 Donegal.

I couldn't find a marriage record for them in Donegal.

Not sure if these links will work;you need to purchase credit to view the full record on rootsireland but it will give you the parish and MAYBE the parents' names.

If you get the fahter's name you can look for listings on the Tithe Applotments (1823-37) as well as search for the parents' marriage on rootsireland.

  • Thanks ColCaff. I am familiar with the rootsireland site, and will check out those further. I appreciate your help. I found the parents names for that James McClure, b. 1816. They were a John McClure and a Mary McAnum. Address was Ratinny, Drumhome Parish, Co.Donegal, Church of Ireland. Baptism Nov. 30, 1816. I could not find any info on the parent's marriage so far.
