Agness Laird most definitely sounds like a Scottish name, so I'm sure that will be an interesting lead when you find out more information. Have you looked for any birth records for Margaret or Nancy? These usually start from 1845, but you might be lucky. Try contacting the General Register Office (GRO) or write to the parish priest to see if there is anyinformation on the family. Did they remian in Donegal or did the emigrate?

You should also look at the land record called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) for information about where they lived.
