Looking for descendants of any Longs/Stewart/Scotts that would have been living in the area's of Drumboghill, Naran, Lackagh during the time period of 1768- 1911. We are the descendants of a Patrick Long from Drumboghill 1768, who married a Elizabeth Stewart in Drumholm in 1787. She was the Daughter of a David Stewart who was from Drumholm and possibly the David Stewart that was living in Cooley pre 1787.  We believe that Patrick Long was the son of Stephen Long living in Lackagh 1768. Patrick had two brothers that we know of a William Long from Naran 1768 and a James Long of Lackagh 1775. Interested in a James Long from Lackagh that had a son Patrick Long b. 1818, who married a women called Anne Scott, d/o David Scott, they married in 1888 Naran. We are DNA registered. Regards, AFox .

  • Hi, there were Longs that lived in Lackagh around 1950s but I think the houses are owned by visitors now. One of them may have been called Lily Long.

  • Thank you for the information on Lily Long. Do you live in the area? If so , can you tell me if the townland of Drumboghill still exists? We will be back in Co Donegal in the month of May 2018, I guess we'll be knocking on doors in Lackagh. Thanks again. Alice Fookes

Hi Alice. I am a descendant of Patrick Long and Elizabeth Stewart who came from Ireland to Fort Pitt in 1791 and then settled in Long Point, Ontario in 1795. I live in British Columbia, Canada and am researching the family history. I would love to hear from you in regards to Patrick Long, his family and their journey.

    Hi Myrna,

I have Longs and Scotts in my family tree. My great great grandmother was Margaret Long born 1820 in Narin to James Long and Ann Scott. James Long born 1790 Narin married Ann Scott born 1785 Glasboli (?) in April 1818 at Inver. Ann Scott's parents were James Scott born abt 1760 and Margaret Keys born abt 1760.

My great great grandmother Margaret Long married Nathaniel Webb, a coast guard stationed in Portnoo in 1838 after his first wife Ann Scott died leaving two small children. I believe Ann Scott is Margaret Scott's cousin. Both marriages took place in Narin.

Margaret and Nathaniel migrated to Australia with all their children during the 1850s.
