Hello, I am searching for family ancestor named John Dannelly or Danielly, who was born in Kilkenny, Co. Donegal around 1740 and emmigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US as a boy. Married Mary McDade and then Hannah Stapler. He was Protestant, anti-British, and fought in American Revolution. We have his son's account of his father being from Kilkenny, County Donegal and emmigrating with his family (parents and siblings - names unknown) as a boy.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The C of I records for Inishkeel parish do not begin until 1826.

I also looked at the 1833 Tithe records for Kilkenny townland in Inishkeel parish but there were no Danelly/Danielly records.

  • I am researching this family, too.  John Dannelly is my husband's great (x many) grandfather.  It looks like we have the same information so far.  My father-in-law just did the YDNA test and I have some results back, but need to sit through the eduational videos to understand what I am looking at.  The YDNA test done by a cousin for my husband's mother's side gave us a great breakthrough.  We are hoping this YDNA helps with the Dannelly Wall, too.
