Seeking marriage of James Callahan and Mary Doherty, probably Donegal, probably close to 1868.
James b. 1834, d. 1873, registered in Millford. Can't find record for Mary. She was said to have been born in England.
Daughter Hannah b. 1870, registered Kilmacrenan.
Daughter Bridget b. 1872, registered Millford.
Can't find birth records for daughters Annie (1868) and Mary (1873).
Bridget and daughter Mary gave townland as Tirargus, Kilmacrenan at marriages in Termon and Gartan in 1892 and 1893.
Daughters Annie and Hannah came over to USA, Pittsburgh, PA at ages 15 and 13 in 1883, to live with their aunts Ann and Kate Gibbons who were in their 50s and had been in US since about 1850. Speculating that perhaps Mary Doherty's mother was a Gibbons...?
Tantalizing but tenuous connection with a Patrick Doherty b. Donegal 1832, emigrated to Victoria, Australia in 1850s: a family story had been that a Doherty relative became The Lumber King of Rochester in Australia. This Patrick Doherty had nothing to do with lumber, apparently, but as a local politician was referred to as King of Rochester, sarcastically, but it was printed in the newspaper. Our Mary Callaghan cousins had a clipping of it. Patrick's parents were Michael Doherty and Hannah Gibbons. There is also a William Doherty there in Rochester b. Donegal 1849, d. 1897, parents also Michael D. and Hannah Gibbons.
That's pretty much all I have. Is there anything there anyone recognizes? Any suggestions?

Patrick Doherty's obit (1916) states he was born in Church Hill, 1832, emigrated to Australia 1852 on ship Shalomar (spelled Shallimar in obit). My ggmother's sister Mary's grandchildren (Callaghans in Letterkenny) thought Annie was probably born in Church Hill. It was they who showed the clipping to my aunt in mid 1980s. She's lost touch with them; last heard that younger ones went to Limerick.
Patrick's obit mentioned his younger brothers William and Hugh who had predeceased him. No mention in his obit or will of any family in Ireland.
Their mother Hannah Gibbons may have been sister to William Gibbons, father of Ann and Kate.

My mothers name was Doherty born in 1923. She was born somewhere in Donnegal area. Pretty sure she told me her mothers name was Gibbons. She married Philip Kearney and. Moved to Canada around 1946
