Hello,

I am a descendent of James F. Caughey, born in County Down, Ireland in 1817 or maybe 1812.  There is also a James L. Caughey that may be an uncle.  Also John Caughey, born about 1801, may be the father.  I am not certain how all these men are related.  They emigrated to United States before 1836, as both James and John were naturalized in April 1836 in Rutland, Vermont USA.   I do not believe they were married at the time they emigrated, but John may have had a wife in Ireland that had died.  Any information about these ancesters will be appreciated.

    Have you already tried rootsireland.ie or familysearch to check for any further records of the Caughey family that might help you link these men?

    As an aside, the Flax Growers List 1796 also lists some Caughey entries:
