James Fulton was born in January, either 1837, 38, or 39. Father is John, mother unknown. Came to US in 1884. Married to Agnes McWhinney, father William(?)' in 1884. Agnes was born in 1862(?), possibly in Belfast. Looking for mother's names, birth & marriage certificates.

James was formerly married to Mary Ann  Goodwin in 1858. They had a son, John, born in 1864,  who came to US also. They also possibly had a son, James, who died at around 2 years of age. I have a copy of James and Mary Ann's civil marriage in 1858, but cannot find one for James and Agnes.

Thank you for any help you can give me.     Jane Loge

  • Jane,

Statutory birth and death registration only started in Ireland in 1864 so you won?t get a birth cert for Agnes if she was born in 1862. You might get her baptism but to do that you would need to know which church she attended. (Few of the baptism records in Belfast are on-line).

I have looked for the marriage around 1884 too, but cannot see it listed in Ireland. Could they have married in the US?
