I am looking for any information relating to my great great grandfather who came from Ireland, from the parish of Down I belive as I have found on a census record in 1851.  His name was John Duffy and he was born in around 1826.  He married Catherine McGlade, who was born in 1821.  I believe they were married in Ireland but cannot trace a record of their marriage.  They came to Carlisle in England before 1849 I believe according to the census record I have found on Ancestory.  They had 4 children named Henry, Sarah, Alexander and John.  Henry was born in Ireland in 1844 and John was born in Ireland in 1842.  The other 2 children were born in England.  Henry was my great grandfather but I cannot trace his ancestory before this time.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have also looked for his death record but was unable to trace this either.

    The closest match for John Duffy born 1826 in Down is 1828 on www.rootsireland.ie/
    The site requires a subscription
    The record will have the parish and MAYBE the parents' names.
    I couldn't find a marriage record; geni.nidirect.gov.uk may have a marriage record but you need to purchase credit
    PRONI is a free site on which you can do a name search where you might find some early Duffys in Down
