The family story… Hugh worked for Mary Magee’s father. He decided to go to the United States for a better life. Before he left, he and Mary had done the deed. After Hugh was gone, Mary found herself in a family way. Mr. Magee investigated the whereabouts of Hugh and found him to be in Philadelphia. He then sent Mary and four/five of her Magee brothers to Philadelphia to make an honest man of Hugh. (Later a few of the brothers went back home again.)
Hugh and Mary McGlenn /McGlinn (both Protestant) would have the following children:
1. William Hugh McGlinn May 1870 – 18 Aug 1949
2. John S McGlinn Sr. Apr 1872- 10 Nov 1921
3. Thomas McGlinn 1874-1940
4. Son McGlinn 1875-1875
5. Mary McGlenn 1877-1878
6. Margaret ‘Maggie’ McGlinn-McDonald 1878-1930
7. Elizabeth ‘Lizzie’ McGlinn-Noble 1881-1940
In their 1880 US Census, the young ‘McGlinn’ Family lists a ‘border’ as ‘William Adams’; abt 1858; ‘Ireland’
William Magee (1844-1872) - A cousin or brother
William Magee & Mary Jamison?-Magee
They would have one child.
Sarah Jane Magee-Trout: born in England of Irish Origin (Feb 1866-1948)
Thomas Magee (Sep 1833-1901) - A cousin or older brother
Thomas would live in Glassboro, New Jersey, farm fruit orchards, and raise his family with Margaret S. Bill-Magee.
On marriage document Thomas’s parents are John & Sarah Magee
Children: Rebeca J, Elizabeth B, Samuel B, Thomas Howard Magee

Hello Elizabeth,
It's difficult to narrow down someone's baptismal record when you don't have both parent's names but I went to www.rootsireland.ie and found a baptismal record for a Hugh McGlinn born 1840 in Co. Tyrone.
You can register with this site for free but you would hve to pay about €5 to view a particular record.
I found also a baptismal record for a Mary Magee born in 1842 in Co. Antrim.
It's worth taking note of their childrens names as most children were called after grandparents.
I think it may be worth viewing these records. Please keep a very open mind regarding dates. Most people didn't know what age they were and only guessed at their port of arrival.

Hello! Anne - It is a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for your help in locating baptismal records. I will continue to search in Tyrone & Antrim for more on Hugh McGlinn & Mary Magee.
On the US Census for Hugh & Mary, I too, noted the different dates (year) of births. Thank you for confirming my thoughts on my 2nd gg not knowing what their ages were. Also, I will look at the childrens - grandparents first names.
