Hi - I am trying to trace any remaining family of my Great Grandmother Margaret Burns who was born in Hillsborough in 1873. Her occupation is listed as nurse, her father was Anthony Burns was a weaver. She had a sister called Mary Burns. She married Edward Cunningham (a jockey) on the 8th September 1896 and left Ireland in 1898 to go to Ayr in Scotland where all of her 5 children were born.

Anthony probably married an Elizabeth McCartan in Lisburn on 30.11.187.
There was more than one Burns ? McCartan marriage at that time but I think I can see 3 children to yours:
Margaret born 18.9.1873 regd Lurgan
Mary 6.5.1877 Lisburn
Anthony 24.2.1880 Lisburn.
There may have been others if he moved about a bit. You can search for them using the GRONI site. Just search on McCart for the wife's name as it will pick up spelling variations.
You can view those births on the GRONI site for ?2 each. Use the search registrations option. Probably worth getting the marriage cert too to see where he was living then and what his fathers name was etc.
