Hello Tullylish..

Just a note to say 'Hi' and if anyone is looking for the family of John Rice Sr, as per listing in Griffith Valuation, I have some information on his sons and their immigration to Australia and New Zealand.

And if anyone has any information that they would like to share.. would be greatly appreicated.

Cheers Trish - decendant of the Rice's of Ballynagarrick.

Miss Trish

  • Hi Clare

Apologies for the long reply too. I've had many great like minded family searchers contribute to this Rice family and have gotten this side of the pond sorted.. so to speak.

The one thing I would love to find out is how/why or what happened for my 2 x great grandfather father for him to be listed as 'In America' in the Knockmuckley 1857 church census. There was one person looking for John Rice Snr family, in regards to their own. Looking for information as their Rice descendant had to leave Ireland due to a possible 'murder/accidental death' of his landlord. I know the chances of finding this out is relatively slim but with the census list William & Robert's father 'in America', but no mention of the boys mother, maybe is was she that might have died.

Thanks for getting back Clare and if anyone is looking for missing family members from around this region check in the Canterbury region of New Zealand. A great transplant of this and surrounding communities ended up there.

    Cheers
