  • Dear Anna

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Rootsireland does show a baptism for Nicholas in Dunsany, Co. Meath on 8th Dec 1860. His parents are listed as George Webb and Elizabeth Kerrigan. Other children included William (baptised 1854), Peter (baptised 1855), Mary (baptised 1857), James (baptised 1863) and  George (baptised 1859). George and Elizabeth were married in the parish of Dunshaughlin on 20th May 1853. You could use this site to see if there are any marriage records for Nicholas, William and the other siblings. Rootsireland is a subscription site but you can subscribe by the month. You can also see you great grandfather's (and the other) original baptism certificate here:

Have you already contacted the Guinness Archive? They have had a number of archivists working there since 2000 and have a great archive service there. Their website is: https://www.guinness-storehouse.com/en/archives

I would love to know if you earn anymore there

    Best wishes

  • PS - There is also an Elizabeth Kerrigan baptism on rootsireland in Athboy, Co. Meath on 22nd Dec 1834 (parents Michael Kerrigan and Mary Davan) and this could be your great-grand father's mother.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks for reply. Yes, I have done the Guinness Archive  and found Nicholas worked there from 1884. He married Julia Sherlock in their home parish Killeen/Dunsany  in 1884 and they lived in New Houses, Kilmainham (Guinness Houses). There were three children and around 1920 the family moved to Balrothery. William is my great-grandfather who lived in Killeen. Very interested in Elizabeth Kerrigan. She is my great-great-grandmother and she and George were married in Culmullen (my own parish) in 1853 I thought Elizabeth was born Dunshaughlin/Culmullen but from your record it looks as she were born in Athboy. There is a connection between Webb family of Killeen and Webb family of Athboy. So, it looks as if the two families were sometime ne

ighbours. An name like Webb should be easy to sort but not so especially when dealing with two different religions.
