Found parish records for my GGGF, his wife Ellen (nee HAWKER b 1826) and his 4 sons and 1 daughter - William Joseph (my GGF), James Edward, John Francis Dominick, Joseph Patrick and Ellen, all born between 1856 and 1867 in Dublin. His marriage to Ellen was also in the reocrds.

I have not been able to trace any records for the children since their births except my GGF who emigrated to Wales in 1881 to be part of the boom in Cardiff with the discovery of coal and the industry it brought. He had five sons including my grandfather, Albert Henry Farrell (William dropped the O') and retired in approx 1920 as an Engineer i/c the pumping station at Queen Alexander Docks.

I am hoping that I can make contact with any descendants of the other 4 children or his wifes family in their Ireland or anywhere that they may have emigrated as well.

You may want to check out the 1901 and 1911 censuses to see if you can find any of the siblings.

You may also want to consider autosomal DNA testing. Possibly you might match someone who also has Farrell/O'Farrell connections.

  • Hi Derek,

Its probably a long shot but i am researching my family tree and i have discovered that James M. Farrell was my Great great grandfather. I am just finding out about the Farrell side of the family this year. I am from Joseph Patrick's family. His daughter was my grandmother. I never met her as she died in the 1940s.

I have had my DNA tested and im on GedMatch and MyHeritage.
