My GG Grandmother Jane Trimble of Carrickpolin married William Brownfield (Bloomfield) at Cavanaleck Presbyterian Church on 30 June, 1847 (have certificate). I am trying to track down Jane's parents and family in Co. Fermanagh and plan to visit Ireland in August 2016. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks, Carol

This is the only record which comes up for Jane with father John 1827 + - 10 years in any county:

    Name:Jane TrimbleDate of Birth:

    Notes:

THE NAME OF THE CLERGYMAN WAS REV. J.F.LEATHLEY

So, while her address at time of marriage was Fermanagh she & the family may have moved there at some stage from Westmeath as the Tithe Applotments 1823-37 have no Trimbles in Fermanagh but do have 6 in Westmeath including a John at the same address as her baptism record:

  • Thanks Col,

That is an interesting addition to my knowledge. I had not previously considered John had moved his family from outside Fermanagh. I look forward to researching further in my quest to find Jane's father, John Trimble. Jane re-married in 1859, after her first husband died and on that certificate, her father is recorded as William Trimble. In the Griffiths Valuations, there is a listing in Carrickpolin for a 'John Trimble Jnr (Billy)' so I suspect the person recording her father's name knew him as Billy and assumed he was William. Regards, Carol

  • Hi again Col,

We've been looking further into this. We believe Jane was part of a large family. Are you able to search for any other children for father John Trimble in that Parish please? Thanks, Carol
