My great great grandmother Isabella Cosgrove emigrated from Enniskillen to Melbourne,Australia around 1854.
Her parents were Bernard Cosgrove and Ellen Mcelroy.
I'd love to find out more.Any Cosgroves or Mcelroys about still?
Enniskillen RC marriage records start in 1817 but I can’t see Bernard & Ellen’s marriage there. Perhaps she came from a nearby parish whose records haven’t survived. The Enniskillen baptism don’t start till 1838 so that’s probably too late for Isabella.
1901 census for Co Fermanagh had 108 Cosgroves and 305 McElroy/McIlroy. There’s plenty of both names in the area in the current UK phone book (postcode BT92). http://www.ukphonebook.com
