Seeking family connected to Charles MARTIN & Jane (DALY). Married c 1868 in Enniskillen.

Had children Elizabeth, William and Edward.

Came out to New Zealand on the Sussex in 1874 and settled in Dunedin.

At that time their ages were. Charles 28, Jane 26, Elizabeth 6, William 4 and Edward 1.

Are there any extended family still in Ireland?

  • Searching for James Lee who married Catherine (unknown surname)

James put his place of birth (on the 1881 census) as Nockany, Fermanagh - but this isn't listed as a parish - so I wonder if this was area around Enniskillin. He would have been born in 1826.

Catherine came from Glenty in Donagal.

I believe they married in the late 1840s and moved to Renfrewshire, Scotland.

Two separate threads here. Charles Martin?s marriage to Jane Daley was registered in Enniskillen 1866 Volume 17, page 84. You can order a copy of that cert from GRO Roscommon for 4 euros. Put the references on the application form (anywhere). http://www.groireland.ie/

With that information on the certificate you may be able to trace the family backwards and forwards. The problem with trying to find descendants alive in the area today is that most people wouldn?t know their history back to the mid 1800s and so you would probably nd to employ a researcher to take the tree forward a bit to more modern times.

Nockany in Fermanagh might be Knockninny, which is in the parish of Kinawley.

Glenty will surely be Glenties, in Donegal.
