Seeking information on the parents of Thomas J Mooney who was baptized 16- Dec-1832 in Tuam. His parents are listed as John Mooney and Mary Mullen. His Sponsor/God Mother was Mary Costelloe.  Thomas J. Mooney immigrated to New york City aboard the Fidelia with his father John in the winter of 1849. Thomas eventually settled in Cincinnatti, Ohio were he married a fine Irish woman by the name of Bridget Tierney.

Thank you very much for any advice or information you might be able to offer.

  • hi,

I am afraid offical records for Catholic births in Ireland were not recorded until 1864.

There are older Church records, but you would need to know the name of the parish where Thomas was christened.

There is a record of the baptism of a Thomas MOONEY in Galway in 1832, but I don't know how much information would be on the certificate.
