My husband's grandparents are buried in this cemetery in Rathcosgrove. We would like to have a gravestone placed on the graves of his grandparents, but we live in the U. S. and do not know whom to contact.  We have tried contacting a stonecarver via email (which we found on the internet), but have not received any reply.

1.  Is it possible to have a gravestone placed in this cemetery?

2.  Who should we contact, preferably via email, about the cemetery and about the gravestone?

Thanks for your help!

  • Hello, Rory,

Thank you for your reply.  We visited Ardrahan, Laban, and Rathcosgrove in 2009.  We were pleased to have visited John and Sheila Moylan and my husband's cousin, Grace Forde.  We did not have a chance to meet his first cousin Michael Moylan, who inherited their grandparents' farm in Rothcosgrove.

We visited the cemetery at that time, but since they are unmarked, we could not find the graves.

Last year we were fortunate to correspond with Tom Greene, who is one of the volunteers who cleaned up Ardna'Morain.  He has since told us that he now knows where Patrick and Anna are buried.  Our next step was to make arrangement for a gravestone for the graves, with the intent to visit when the stone is set.

We look forward to receiving any information you may provide.  Thank you!

  • Hello, Rory,

Sorry to have taken so long to get your message.

We'd be delighted to correspond through email, but as shown in your message above, your email address won't work:  rory_oshaughnessy.com  You might try emailing me at CHenley29 at aol.com.  We are looking forward to seeing your pictures and learning how we can set up the commemorative stone for my husband's grandparents.
