I'm interested in Patrick and Marion Lally and their daughter Mary Lally.     Mary was sent to Australia from Ballinasloe workhouse in 1848 under the Earl Grey Scheme.  He parents were dead in 1848.  Mary was born in 1833.  Can anybody have any information on these people?

Many thanks

Stephen

Many thanks for your interest and your reply.  I regret that I've tried all your links - have spent a couple of days at Galway Archives, Cathedral Sq. and have found out a lot about the girls who went to Australia.    My own family appear on the surviving fragment of 1821 census for Kiltullagh so I thought I'd take a new interest in the Ballymacward family as that's not too far from Kiltullagh.  I'm writing up my Irish history (1818 - 1848) and mentioning other Lallys as thay may have been related so, not wanting to leave any stone unturned, I thought I'd see if anything was known about Lallys in Ballymacward.

Your reply is much appreciated and if you hear of anything please let me know.

    Thanks

I have a Mary Lally in my family tree, she is my 3rd great grandmother.  I believe she was born about 1797, in 1865 she appears in Milford Massachusetts with her husband Patrick Hubon.  Mary died Feb 6 1873 in Milford at age 77.  Her death record shows her parents as Thomas Lally and Mary Loughnane.  Patrick Hubon and Mary Lally were the parents of Winifred Hubon (married Thomas Kelly) (1795-1888), Margaret Hubon (married Patrick Dunleavy) (1804-1892) and Patrick Hubon (married Catherine Maher in Loughrea regitration district, they had a child Mary who was born in Ballymacward), (1820-1886).  I have no confirmation for any dates they are based upon ages reported in census so could be off by some years.

I think I have found a death registration for Thomas Laly from 1864 in the Loughrea Registration District.  He was 70 so his birth would have been 1794, which if this is him makes Winifred's birth off by many years (possible).

Wondering if your Lally's and my Lally's are related.
