John lydon (born about 1851) married a Mary Mullen(born about 1843 (daughter of Peter and Mary).
Their daughter Mary came to the u.s. and married Thomas O'Brien of Pennsylvania. They also had other children toothomas, John Peter, Bridget, Festus.Peter, and Bridget do come to the US also, but at different times. I have letters written by,  my 4th ? Great grandmother and grandfather. John lydon and Mary Mullen. They all are from the early 1900's almost to about 1930. In These letters, which are post marked "banogues' and letterfrack, the letters talk about a "lodge ",. Maybe this was a place they worked?  Mention of kings family, and coneelys. I have census records of them in 1901 &1911 Ireland census. But nothing else.

There are quite a few John Lydon baptisms in and around 1851 in Galway so hard to tell which is yours.

IF he was also from Ballynakill, this is the only one from there:

    Name:John LydonDate of Birth:
    Date of Baptism:05-Apr-1843Address:DerrinverParish/District:BALLINAKILLGender:MaleCountyCo. Galway
    Denomination:Church Of Ireland
    Father:James LydonMother:Mary LydonOccupation:Labourer

However the marriage record has him as RC. There are none from Ballynakill R C parish & no records from Ballinahinch on rootsireland.ie

IF he was born in Clifden like Mary:

    Name:John LydenDate of Birth:
    Date of Baptism:18-Sep-1851Address:Not RecordedParish/District:CLIFDENGender:MaleCountyCo. Galway
    Denomination:Roman Catholic

You might try Griffiths Valuation & the Tithe Applotments (both free) to see where the Lydons & Mullens were in earlier years
