I am tracing the genealogy of my wife's family.  Her maiden name is Eileen Mary Kelly.  Her father was Charles C. Kelly, b. Yonkers, NY, 1922, d. 1968, Center Moriches, NY.  Her mother was Joan W. Brophy, b. 1923, Yonkers, NY, d. 2005, Stony Brook, NY.  Her grandfather was Charles A. Kelly, b. 1867, Yonkers, NY, d. 1965, Yonkers, NY.  Her great grandfather was Thomas H. Kelly, b. 1846, Poughkeepsie, NY, d. 1896, Yonkers, NY.  Her great great grandfather was Michael Kelly Jr., b. ca 1821, Clontuskert, Ireland.  We believe he was in NY before 1840.  He appears in the 1850 census in Poughkeepsie, NY.  He was listed as a merchant, living on Mansion St..  Living with his family in 1850 was a Patrick Kelly, who was 67 years old that year, also born in Ireland.  We believe this was Michael's uncle.  Michael's wifes name was Elizabeth, born in Clontuskert.  Can you offer any assistance with this information?

Roots Ireland www.roootsireland.ie has records for Clontuskert RC starting in 1827 with some gaps. This is later than Michael's birth in 1821. (FYI Roots is a pay site). The National Archives also has the Tithe Applotment listings for Clontuskert parish. www.titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie There were 32 Kellys listed in 1823. The listings only show the names of the individuals paying the tithe and how much land they had and the townland name.
