Looking for George William Flanagan. He came to New Zealand abt. the late 1850's.

I have a Baptism Record of a William Flanagan dated 22 October 1837

at Glinsk. His address was Kilbegnet and Dunamon. His father was Patrick Flanagan and his mother

Maria Tully.

His sponsors were Thomas McDonnel and Maria Fury. Does anyone know this family?

Did they go oversaes with a young family.? My William did not use his name George often.

He was also known as Billy. He was a miner, Married at 33 years, raised 14 children and died in Nelson, New Zealand in 1902.

Is this my Grandfather?

  • Thank you for all the suggestions. We have taken DNA tests and have found a sibling to George William Flanagan. A Mary Flanagan born 15 October 1836. Her parents were Patrick and Catherine Neilen. We are not sure where in Galway the family came from or if there are other siblings. Mary went to the USA. We would be grateful for any further suggestions.

    Thank you,

    P Rowe.
