I am looking for ancestors or records of two sisters:

Bridget Murray (my great-great grandmother) and Mary Murray. One of Bridget's sons death certificat has her place of birth as Bollagar, Co Galway, Ireland.

Info I have on Bridget:  DOB  abt 1830,  Immigrated abt 1842 age 12, Married Edward Kelly (Co Roscommon) 1851 in Dedham,Roxbury, Massachusetts, USA,  Married Patrick Neary 1858 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. USA,   DOD May 1913, Winneconne, Winnebago, Wisconsin, USA

Mary DOB abt 1827, -  DOD  July 1917 Winneconne, Winnebago, Wisconsin, USA,   Immigrated abt 1844,   Married Mathew Killilea   1847

I'm wondering if the townland was Ballygar in Killeroran civil parish. I looked on Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie for a baptismal record but they apparently don't have Killeroran RC records. Below is the link to the 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Killeroran parish. A number of Murrays in the parish but none in Ballygar. I'm sure Bridget's parents emigrated with her in 1842.

  • Edward Kelly's death certificate has his mother Bridget Murray's place of birth listed as 'Bollagar, Co Galway. Ireland'. The closest I could find was 'Ballygar, Killeroran., Ireland"  but I could be wrong. What do you mean by civil parish?  I far as I know they were all RC. Edward Kelly and Bridget Murray's marriage license has his patents listed as Edmund and Ellen but Bridget's parents are blank.  Every place I have looked for Murrays in the late 1830s and early 1840s  I haven't been able to find Bridget and Mary.   Thanks for looking.  Shanley
