I would like to confirm that my family comes from Kilreekill and would like to find birth/baptismal records for:

     Ambrose BURKE (b. 1806)

     Anna Maria BURKE (b. 1843)

     Dominick Ulic BURKE (b. 1846)

     Elizabeth "Anne" MADDEN (b. 1806)

Also, the marriage record for Ambrose BURKE and Elizabeth MADDEN.

    Laura:

Civil registration did not begin until 1864 so you would have to rely on Church records. The Kilreekill records go back to 1809 for baptisms and 1831 for marriages. Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie does no have the the Kilreekill records. However, the Mormon Church has microfilmed the Kilreekill church records on two films. You could order the films www.familysearch.org and view the films at a local Family History Center. Hopefully, there is an FHC near you. See link above.

  • Hi Laura-1821 Census of Ireland(some Galway records still survive)show Burkes and Maddens living in Kilreekil.

    House No.1 in Cooliny-now Cooliney-was occupied by the Burke family.Ambrose Burke-57-Gentleman.

                                                                                                           Eleanor Burke-53-Wife.William Burke-son-19.Ulick Burke-son-18.Dominick Burke-son-16.Ambrose Burke-son-17.

There are 33 Maddens recorded in the area but no Elizabeth. However  a Madden family  lived about 1 mile from Cooliney, townland of Carrowroe, but not in Kilreekil parish. No record of names just house location.

Records of Births ,Marriages and Deaths for Kilreekil parish  exist from about1809. East Galway Family history society,Woodford,County Galway have Civil and Religious records.
