I am still looking for my family "Maloney's of Galway". Please refer to the 4 messages I have posted over the last few years under "Maloney's of Galway" for my information. I was wondering if you have any new volunteers who might be able to work on my family. I still don't know the townland after all your suggestions, which I really appreciate.

Thanks again,

Jane Maloney Heffernan

I finally had time to go back and look at your 3 messages from 2012 and the message you posted last May with a reply from Clare Doyle.

There is one good news item since you posted in May. This summer the National Library of Ireland plans to put the RC parish registers online for free searching. The Cappataggle/Kilreekil RC records go back to 1809 (with probably some gaps) but it should allow you to search the records to see if you can verify that the 1821 census info you found relates to your family. With the new release you will have to search parish by parish.

One other suggestion is that you may want to look into having your DNA tested. There is an autosomal test which identifies connections on both your paternal and maternal lines. Possibly you will match a distant cousin who has Maloney connections.

  • Hi Jane

,My name is Liam Irwin.I am from Kilreekil. I have identified where your relations lived in 1821. Drimcourty Glebe was actually in Kilreekill Village,on the west side of the street, where the school, hall, church, graveyard, carpark and Parochial house stand today.

I have no concrete information about Maloneys or Murrays but i am working on it.
