I am searching for a record of the marriage of John Hayes and Margaret (perhaps McInerney) between 1839 and 1841. They were assisted immigrants to Australia aboard the Gilbert Henderson in 1841, giving Kinvarrough (sic) as their native place.

John's parents were Patrick and Bridget, his father still alive in 1841. Margaret's parents were Patrick and Bridget Mack (almost illegible - possibly McInerney). They had no chiildren in 1841.

I have searched RootsIreland and FamilySearch unsuccessfully. I hope you can help me!

  • Unfortunately there appears to be a gap in the available records for Kinvara RC marriages right at the timeframe you need. Both the NLI film index and the IrishTimes/John Grenham website note marriages for the parish from June 1831 to May 1837 and then a gap up to June 1843. Possibly some missing or very faded pages in the register..

Edit : there also appears to be a gap for batsisms over about the same time period, so maybe a missing register, or good records were not being kept ?

  • Thank you for that information, even though it's not good news.

I have found some possible matches in Carrownavohanaun, Kiltartan parish, and left a message on that page.
