The next meeting of the will take place on in Lackagh Parish Centre commencing at 8 pm.
This is the Annual General Meeting of the Association.
WFHA member Frank Kearney will give a presentation on his genealogy research entitled Kearneys of Lackagh. Frank will give a detailed account of his work and research on the history of the Kearney Family from Lackagh. He has had a lifetime interest in Family History and was one of the founder members of the Western Family History Association. Much of his research was done before such information became more readily available on-line. He was heavily involved in organizing a reunion of the Kearney Family of Lackagh in July 2012. The Kearney family have long been established in the Lackagh area, dating back to the late 1700s. A member of the clan, Fr Thomas Kearney, was responsible for the building of the old church in Lackagh in 1839.
There are now over 500 different surnames scattered across the globe who are descendents of Kearneys of Lackagh.
