  • Hi There

Many thanks for your genealogy message. Was wondering the names you mention Ward, Usher, Hession and White.... they are common names in the Fohenagh/Ballymacward/Kilconnell area. Do you have any further information?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

  • My great grandfather was Timothy Ward.He married  Catherine(Kate)Kenny ,the daughter of Micheal Kenny and Mary Usher of Kilmalaw. Michael and Mary Kenny lived in the house which later became the Coen family home.Timothy Ward was probably married around 1860 as their oldest child John was born in 1861 .His baptism is recorded in the Fohenagh parish records.

My grandmother Elizabeth (Lizzie)Ward was born shortly after in 1863,followed by Timothy and Martin and Micheal. The family immigrated to the States between 1868-70 and settled in Chicago. There my granmother married in 1895 George White whom I believe had connections to Galway. I believe his parents were named Henry and Hannah(Honora?).

    Hope this helps somewhat.
