My family has sparse information on the siblings of my grandmother Katherine Halgren (nee Finnerty).

Her parents were Jeremy Finnerty and Ellen Finnerty (nee Hynes) who raised their family in Peterswell in the mid 1800's.

Names of all the children

Catherine (born 1864), Ellen (born 1866). Both emigrated to the U.S.

No info on birth dates of the other siblings who presumably did not leave Ireland:

Anne, Bridget, Delia, Mary, John, Patrick, Jerome and Martin.

  • A few addition to phalgren's post.

Jeremy Finnerty was also know as "Darby".  Ellen Hynes was originally from Gort.  The children were likely born in Peterwell, but some records indicate Gort as place of birth.  Perhaps that is were births were recorded.

    Katherine was born on 4/29/1864.

    Bridget was born on 1/20/1870.

    Patrick was born on 2/14/1872.

Jeremiah (Jerome) was born on 1/1/1875.

    John was born 2/15/1877.

    Anne was born 9/1894.

  • I'm not sure, but we may have a connection through the Martin Finnerty you mentioned. My 2nd great grandfather Martin Finnerty married Bridget/Delia Callen/Callon. They went to the United States, probably in the 1870s, and lived in New Jersey for a while. They decided to go back to Ireland in 1888 and my great grandmother Kathryn Augustine Finnerty was born on the S/S Baltic en route. The arrived (not sure of the port) 1 May 1888. They had 6 children, that I know of: Kathryn Augustine, Patrick J, Mary, Anna Marie, Ella Josephine, and Joseph. I was told by my grandmother that they were from Peterswell. I believe Bridget died in Peterswell 12 Apr 1900, and I belive this is her Will/Administration Record, which says that Martin was a shopkeeper and a farmer at the time. After that, starting with Kathryn, I believe all fo the children, except for Mary, went to the United States and I have information about them there.

I know that this was posted some time ago, but hope that we can connect and figure out if it's the same family. I'd love to find Martin and Bridget's family!
