I looked at the 1852 Griffiths Valuation survey head of household listing for Kill parish. There was a John Nolan listed plus five Nowlan records. Not sure if any of these are related to Patrick  but they are potential leads. The Griffiths survey for Aghavallen was also in 1852. There was a Michael Sr. and Jr. and a Robert Sr. and Jr. listed for Astee East. You mentioned that your Michael left in May 1850 so likely he is not the Michael Jr. listed. I also checked the 1901 census for Astee East and there was a Robert Cox and family living in the townland at that time.

  • Thank you very much Roger McDonnell!!...Your information is very helpful...Patrick F Nolan's father's name was John Nolan...also ,his Bride was Mary Murphy whose father's name was James Murphy ,(also named in that Griffiths Valuation)

In Kerry,my gr. gr. grandfather Michael married a Margaret Walsh...(A name also listed in that Griffiths)and Michael Cox's father was also named Michael ...I will be near Astee East in about two weeks and definitely will try to see what I can find..Sincerely,
