Ballyseedy DED, Ballymacelligott RC Parish.

Known children of Timothy SUGRUE and Margaret TEAHAN of Dromavalla. John (c1850), Tim (c1852), Julia (1855) and Honora/Johanna (1858), Cornelius (1861), Jeremiah (c1862), Denis (1864 birth certificate obtained).

Looking for Cornelius SUGRUE baptised 3 May 1861 also Denis SUGRUE born 10 May 1864, sons  of Timothy SUGRUE and Margaret nee TEAHAN.

Tim SUGRUE born c1852 and John SUGRUE born c1850 both immigrated to New Zealand.

In the 1901 census Margaret SUGRUE nee TEAHAN is recorded with her son Jeremiah living in Dromavalla. I have visited Dromavalla and am in contact with the SUGRUEs who live there but they have no knowledge of what happened to Cornelius and Denis.

Honoria/Johanna/Nanno SUGRUE married John GRIFFIN 14 February 1884. In both 1901 and 1911 census the family are recorded in Lissardboola. 10 children. Would like to contact any descendants of Nanno and John GRIFFIN.

Julia SUGRUE married Denis GRIFFIN 12 February 1878. 1901 and 1911 census family is recorded in Dromavalla. 10 children one who was Michael immigrated to New Zealand in 1912. Would like to contact any descendants of Julia and Denis GRIFFIN.

Ellen LEARY/O'LEARY nee McCARTHY. Widow of Cornelius LEARY/O'LEARY. In 1901 census and 1911 census Ellen is living with her son John in Lissardboola. Ellen's daughter Margaret immigrated to New Zealand. Margaret married John SUGRUE born c1850 as above. 1911 census records Ellen has 5 surviving children - Margaret in NZ, Patrick in NZ, John in Lissardboola - who were the other two? Any descendants?

DUGGAN from Dromavalla. One son went to USA and corresponded with his sister Mary and brother Dan who immigrated to New Zealand. Mary DUGGAN married Timothy SUGRUE born c1852 as above. There were five children - Mary and Dan to NZ, one son to USA, Denis remained in Kerry. Any descendants?

    Thank you very much for your message. You have done a great job on your family history! I hope that someone with information on any possible descendants makes a connection with you.

    In the meantime you could try contacting the local parish priest in Ballyseedy/Ballymacelligot to see if he can be of any assistance. Perhaps he may recognise some of the surnames from around the parish today or he may know of someone in the community who may be able to offer some advice.
