John Callahan (b abt 1825) and Mary Nagle (b abt 1827) are my 3rd great grandparents. Thanks to a previous post on IrelandXO, searching churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie with John Callahan and Mary Nagle found thier marriage record (10 May 1853) and the baptism resords for 6 of the 8 children (Timothy J, 29 Oct 1853; Patrick, 20 March 1856; John, not located; Daniel, not located; Cornelius, 4 Feb 1864; Mary J, 20 March 1865; Jeremiah, 14 April 1867, Denis, 1 April 1869).
According to churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie, all of the records are from Rathmore Parish. If I understand this properly, this is the Catholic parish. Additionally, all but one record says they are from GORTHDARRIG and the remaining record says GURTHDARRIG. I assume these are the same townland with a slightly differnt spelling, but I am not certain. I have also not been able to locate the townland. The closest I have found is Gortderrig in the Doocarrig Electoral Division.
I was hoping someone could tell me if GORTHDARRIG / GURTHDARRIG is Gortderrig in the Doocarrig Electoral Division or if you could tell me where it is located.
I was also looking to see what Church/Cemetery the family would have attended/used in that area in the 1850-1870 time period.
I will be travelling to Kerry early this summer and would like to visit the area.

It's say the townland is likely Gortderrig, which is in Kilcummin civil parish, and one of those included in Rathmore (District of East Kilcummin) Catholic parish. The entry for Gortderrig on the Placename Database includes a map, and also some notes on name variations - Gortdarrick, Gortdearrigge, Gortdearagg etc. The Poor Law Union and civil registration disrict for the area was Killarney, and at the time of the 1901 and 1911 census the Electoral District (DED) was Doocarrig.
In the mid 1880s there were two Catholic Chapels in the parish the first at Gneevgullia village and another at Knockacappul, the one at Knockacappul is nearer to Rathmore so was probably the parish church. There still seems to be a Chapel at Gneevgullia, but no graveyard attached. I dont see a Chapel at Knockacappul on modern maps.
