I have lots of questions for you!

Does Jeremiah's marriage cert. state whether his father is deceased at the time of marriage? We might find James or Julia in the Civil Registration Index of deaths after 1864.

In 1853, Griffith's Valuation, there are 2 James Connor's listed in the Civil Parish of Tralee, one in Broguemaker's Lane and the other in Moyderwell Lane. 34 listings for Connors, as tenants or immediate lessors in total. There are still Connors living in Brogurmaker's Lane in 1901 Census. Also Connors in Boherboy, Chules Lane & Chute's Lane which is near Moyderwell. 

Was Jane Long from Tralee also? There is a John Long listed for Cloonalour Tralee in Griffith's in 1853

There are other births for James Connor & Julia in Tralee around the same time period. Have you a reason for excluding them?

Have you listed all the godparents together and do they yield anything?

Rath is the graveyard for Tralee if the family were from Tralee but a quick search of kerrylaburials.ie yields no results for that time period. This link might be worth searching http://www.kerryburials.com/ as some families added names to headstones in recent years.

Often, though not always, the Parish Priest in Tralee wrote Tralee as the address for a family when they lived in the town. In some cases, I sometimes saw baptism records with a notation for a marriage in England or America when I did a little transcribing for the parish, so it might be worth writing to St. John's Roman Catholic Parish, Tralee to ask if there is anything else on the record that is not online.

We don't know if Julia survived but if she married in Tralee there might be a record of that marriage.

Hi Martine,

Thanks for your thoughts about my search for the O'Connor/Connor families.

The marriage certificate in London, England names the father of Jeremiah O'Connor as James and the father of Julia Connor as John.  It does not indicate if either one of them is deceased.  I will check the Civil Registration for their deaths.

I will also look into the 1901 Census information you gave me.

I do not know for certain that Jane Long came from Tralee.

The births that I have uncovered were found by simply using the database available.  I will now search the actual record page by page to look for other births.  Sometimes a database overlooks a record.  There was a second Julia O'Connor born to James and Julia on November 20, 1836.  I am wondering if their first child, also a Julia, had died sometime after her birth.

I have looked at the baptismal sponsors for their children.  There is a Honora O'Connor and a Thomas O'Connor.  I wonder if they are siblings of the children's father, James.

I enjoyed looking at the links you sent me regarding burials in Tralee.  I was amazed at how many there were.  You gave me a great suggestion to contact the parish of St. John's in Tralee  to see if there is any additional information.

Your help with my ongoing search for my ancestors is very much appreciated.

Hi Nancy, I was gald to be of some assistance. It is likely that the O'Connor sponsors are relatives of the family so it might be worthwhile researching those names also. If you find 2 children of the same name then you can safely assume that the first child died as it was the custom to give the same name again and keep it within the family. If you google Directory for Leather Workers, Ireland you may find a listing for brogue makers.

Have you been able to access Jeremiah's Civil War record? They can often give additional information.
