They are my 2nd great grandparents who came to Australia in 1853 on the new zealander via HEIS. From those records he was born in 1823 and she was born in 1829. They married prior to coming to Australia. I know they both were born in Limerick, and were roman catholic. Neither could read or write. Her fathers name was patrick and he was a jeweller and his fathers name was Daniel. Any assistance would be very gratefully received. I am on ancestry but can find nothing. Regards, Deb

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I had a look on RootsIreland.ie but could not see a baptism or marriage record for Charlotte. RootsIreland does have a baptism for a Daniel on 1st Jan 1824 in St. Michael's Parish, Limerick. His father was Daniel and his mother Elizabeth McInerney. The sponsors were not named. This could be your Daniel but I cannot be 100% sure. It seems that this is the only child they had or at least the only child recorded. Do you know if there were siblings? I was hoping to find a marriage for Daniel and this Elizabeth but was unsuccessful. I fear that they may have been born/married in a parish and at a time that predates parish records.

I wonder if you could have a look on Slater's Commercial Directory of 1846 would it list Daniel as a Jeweller?

As an aside, if you look at rootsireland there are a few baptism listings for children (none for Charlotte) with the surname McSweeney and a father first name Patrick. It seems that there are 3 families in all but the sponsors names/mothers' names might mean something to you. Rootsireland is a subscription site but you can subscribe for a month and leave it at that. You can also see the original baptism records here: http://registers.nli.ie

Let me know what you think

    Best wishes
