Hi

My name is Heather & i am looking for my partners relations that come from Callen, My partners father was Patrick John  Morrissey b1924 in Skeogh Callen  Kilkenny. His father is John Morrissey  who married a Margaret Durney, the Durney's were a very well known family in the area, John & Margaret Morrissey also had another son called William who moved to Wales. Any help would mean a great deal to us.

Kind Regards

Heather

  • Hi Heather,

I checked for where in Kilkenny Co, both families were found together in the same parish.  There are four Parishes in Kilkenny county where both Morrissey and Durney surnames were during the Griffith's Valuation (1849-1850):

Fiddown Parish, Morrissey (8 households), Durney (1 household)

Kells Parish, Morrissey (2 households), Durney (2 households)

Kilmaganny Parish, Morrissey (2 households), Durney (1 household)

Kilree Parish, Morrissey (1 household), Durney (1 household)

    Best of luck to you,

    James McNamara
